Project Narrative & Scope

Public health campaigns rely heavily on consistent visual communication to drive community-wide behavioral change and mitigate vector-borne disease outbreaks. To address the persistent threat of dengue transmission, this public awareness project targeted high-density urban areas through the strategically planned installation of durable, high-visibility informational hoardings and awareness boards. By transforming high-footfall public locations into active educational zones, the initiative aimed to inform residents about the dangers of dengue and motivate proactive environmental sanitation. The placement of the awareness boards was carefully mapped to maximize visual exposure across key civic hubs, including public transit terminals, major intersections, market areas, and near educational institutions. The messaging on the boards was designed for quick readability, combining clear visual aids with direct, actionable instructions on how to identify and eliminate stagnant water collections the primary breeding ground for the Aedes mosquito. By embedding clear health warnings directly into the daily environments of community members, the project bridged the gap between health education and local action. The continuous visual reinforcement encourages individuals to take personal responsibility for their immediate surroundings, shifting the community posture from reactive treatment to proactive environmental stewardship. Ultimately, this initiative strengthens local resilience against seasonal dengue surges by fostering a culture of sustained cleanliness and collective vigilance.
