Project Narrative & Scope

Senior citizens residing in care facilities often face heightened risks for chronic health conditions that require continuous monitoring and routine medical evaluation. To address these healthcare needs, a comprehensive medical checkup and health awareness program was conducted specifically for the residents of an elderly care home. The initiative focused on early detection, disease management, and preventative health education, with a primary emphasis on diabetes care and metabolic health. The health camp brought medical volunteers and healthcare personnel directly to the facility, making essential diagnostics easily accessible to residents with limited mobility. Qualified health officers performed individual blood glucose tests to identify unmanaged diabetic conditions and monitor residents with known metabolic disorders. Alongside diabetes screening, general clinical assessments were conducted to check vital signs, evaluate physical well-being, and review existing medication regimens. Following the physical checkups, an interactive health awareness session was held for the inmates and facility care staff. The session covered the fundamentals of managing diabetes in older age, including recognizing warning signs of high or low blood sugar, the importance of hydration and balanced nutrition, and simple daily practices to maintain physical health. By combining diagnostic testing with targeted education, the project empowered the elderly residents to better understand their health conditions while assisting facility staff in delivering informed, ongoing care.
