Distributing of 50 Spectacles

This vision care initiative was conducted to provide tailor-made corrective spectacles to individuals suffering from uncorrected refractive errors. Fully sponsored through the generosity of Lion Sagara Karunarathna, the project delivered custom-fitted optical solutions to 50 beneficiaries, spanning both children and adults from underserved households. The initiative commenced with professional optical testing conducted by qualified eye-care personnel to assess the precise visual acuity and refractive requirements of each participant. Rather than relying on generic, pre-assembled reading glasses, individual prescriptions were produced to manufacture 50 custom pairs of spectacles tailored to every recipient's specific visual needs. The distribution ceremony was honored by the presence of key Lions District leadership, including District Governor Lion Umashankary Janaranjan, Past District Governor Lion Balasingham Janaranjan, and Immediate Past District Governor Lion Siri Nandana Premasara, who personally handed over the custom spectacles to the recipients. The immediate benefit of this targeted intervention is life-changing across all age groups: school children regain the clear vision necessary for classroom learning and literacy, while adult recipients regain visual independence, allowing them to engage productively in daily work and domestic life. Sponsored by Lion Sagara Karunarathna and supported by top district leadership, the project successfully addressed preventable visual impairment and improved the quality of life for 50 local families.
